Hope this turns out. But, um, did someone recommend using *uncracked* grain? 'Cause the brew stores 'round here always crack the grain at time of sale. My understanding is this makes more surface area to get the sugars and flavor and color out of the grain.
But then, I only know the way I learned...
All the ingredients came together in a box from the brew shop and the directions actually say "uncracked grain." The only thing I can think of is that the type of beer, because it's a low-alcohol light German beer, doesn't require as much color or suger. If it comes bland and watery looking I'll no why.
